IDT Selected to be Panelist at EE Times Virtual Conference: Advances in Power Management

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 2, 2010– Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions that enrich the digital media experience, today announced that it has been selected to be a panelist at theEE Times Virtual Conference: Advances In Power Management. This interactive online conference takes place on Thursday, September 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. PDT.
Siamak Bastami, business unit director focusing on the Portable Market at IDT, will be a panelist in“Managing Distributed Power: Can Spock’s Brain Control the Enterprise?”, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. PDT. This session will address what power management ICs (PMICs) attempt to do— control a complex IC to which they're commonly matched or control an entire PCB. In addition, the speakers will discuss how to develop an overall power-supply sourcing and distribution topology that meets many, sometimes conflicting, goals.
“Although IDT hasn’t been a traditional provider in power management, we are now building on our digital heritage, and adding analog and power management expertise to add greater value to our customers’ applications. We are pleased to participate in this panel of notable industry veterans and be recognized for our expertise within this challenging space,” said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of the Analog and Power Division at IDT.“The IDT approach to power management is unique as it is focused around end applications. Rather than viewing analog as an end market in itself, we see it as an enabler for application-optimized system-level solutions.”
IDT has quickly made strides in the implementation of its power management strategy. In April 2010, the company purchased thepower module VRM assets of IKORto complement the growing power management initiative at IDT, allowing it to achieve higher levels of performance and integration. The company then announced anew family of voltage regulatorsdesigned to help customers reduce their total system power loss by combining the IDT innovative timing portfolio with a multi-phase controller and featuring coupled inductor technology. This enables IDT to offer a complete power management solution featuring coupled inductor technology and VR controllers and makes IDT the only company to offer a voltage regulator module (VRM) and a voltage regulator down (VRD) solution.
Adding to its power management portfolio, IDT recently launched a highly integrated microcontroller-basedIntelligent System Power Management Solutiontargeted for portable consumer products, such as Smartphones, portable navigation devices, mobile Internet devices and eBooks. The unique architecture of this device (IDT P95020) features a best-in-class high-fidelity audio subsystem, clock generation, resistive touch controller, backlight LED driver, Li+/Polymer battery charger, multi-channel DC-to-DC converters and a high resolution analog-to-digital converter (ADC). By embedding a microcontroller, the IDT P95020 offers full programmability and flexibility into designs using leading multimedia application processors. The IDT P95020 is a prime example of the company strategy of integrating power management as part of an application-optimized system level solution.
EE Times, the leading resource for design decision makers in the electronics industry, brings you the second in its Virtual Conference series titled Advances in Power Management. The unavoidable fact is that every electronic product— whether a micropower circuit or a large, line-powered system— needs a power source. Designers are more concerned than ever with issues of power sources, delivery, management, efficiency and dissipation.
The Advances in Power Management Virtual Conference is unique in that it spans a large audience. Topics are sure to be of interest to the student, academia professional and hobbyist, the experienced design engineer, and the procurement specialist.
EE Times Virtual Conferences are fully interactive events that incorporate online learning, live chat, active movement in and out of exhibit booths and sessions, vendor presentations, contests and more. Because the conference is virtual, you can experience it from the comfort of your own desks so you can get right to the industry information and solutions you seek.
With the goal of continuously improving the digital media experience, IDT integrates its fundamental semiconductor heritage with essential innovation, developing and delivering low-power, mixed signal solutionsthat help customers overcome their system challenges. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., IDT has design, manufacturing and sales facilities throughout the world. IDT stock is traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Stock Market®under the symbol“IDTI.” Additional information about IDT is accessible atwww.IDT.com. Follow IDT onTwitterandFacebook.
