IDT Introduces Industry’s First Single-Layer Multi-Touch Capacitive Touch Screen Controller

SAN JOSE, Calif., January 31, 2011– Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®; NASDAQ: IDTI), the Analog and Digital Company™ delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today announced the industry's first touch screen controller IC optimized for IDT's proprietary single-layer multi-touch projected capacitive touch screen technology. This new touch screen technology and controller solution revolutionizes the market by offering atruesingle-layer solution, not requiring cross-over isolation points that other solutions require, yet still maintaining full multi-touch capability. The result is a lower-cost total solution that does not sacrifice features or performance.Typical applications include mobile handsets, personal navigation devices, and handheld gaming platforms with screen sizes up to five inches.
The IDTLDS7000andLDS7001are high-performance, multi-touch, full resolution touch screen controller ICs featuring up to 30 and 35 sensor channels, respectively. Both controllers operate at a speedy 8ms data rate for quick response to touch inputs to improve the user's experience and enable advanced applications that require fast response times. The IDT LDS7000 family's proprietary algorithms eliminate undesired multi touch ghosting, providing accurate individual X and Y coordinates in dual touch mode, a critical requirement for customers using host-interpreted custom gestures to differentiate their end product. The devices' analog front-end design provides a high level of noise rejection performance that negates the need for a separate touch screen shield layer for most applications, lowering the overall solution cost even further.
"The new LDS7000 family of touch controllers enables our customers to take full advantage of IDT's true single-layer touch screen technology," said Alvin Wong, general manager of the Advanced User Interface group at IDT."Our innovative design and multi-touch capabilities allow touch screen manufacturers to simplify their manufacturing processes, yet maintain the critical feature set that is required for today's most advanced consumer devices. IDT continues to extend its presence in breakthrough capacitive touch technologies and designs that improve the user experience, so our customers can deliver winning products to the market."
"The market for multi-touch capable controllers continues to expand based on increasing adoption rates across the globe of smartphones, and since 2010, an exploding market for media tablet PCs," said Randy Lawson, Principal Analyst, Display Electronics at iSuppli Corporation."As screen resolutions and application processor data rates continue to climb in these applications, the ability to discern and reject injected noise at the controller has become a more compelling feature for device manufacturers when selecting their touch screen controller IC provider."
The IDT LDS7000 and LDS7001 devices offer native support for a 10-bit resolution (1024 x 1024) with the ability to scale the touch values of the X and Y axes, offering the flexibility to apply this solution to different resolution LCD and AMOLED panels. In addition, the single-layer solution offers improved backlight transmittance, while the devices' low power modes maximize battery life in portable electronics.
Pricing and Availability
The IDT LDS7000 is currently sampling to qualified customers and is available in a 5x5 mm, 40-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.50 in 10,000-unit quantities. The IDT LDS7001 is currently sampling to qualified customers and is available in a 6x6 mm, 48-pin TQFN package. It is priced at $2.95 in 10,000-unit quantities. IDT Introduces Industry’s First Fully JEDEC-Compliant Memory Buffer for DDR3 LRDIMM

SAN JOSE, Calif., January 31, 2011– Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®; NASDAQ: IDTI), the Analog and Digital Company™ delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today introduced the industry's first JEDEC-compliant Memory Buffer for DDR3 (MB3), to enable a new generation of DDR3 memory technology for servers, workstations and storage equipment. The IDT MB3 device dramatically increases server memory capacity, reliability, and scalability, critical bottlenecks in the performance of virtualized applications and services.
TheIDT MB301Lhas been designed for use in load-reduced dual in-line memory modules (LRDIMMs) at up to DDR3-1600 speeds at 1.5V and 1.35V, delivering high performance and low power consumption in an integrated solution.MB3 DDR3 chipThe MB3 also delivers an unmatched suite of proprietary features, such as full source synchronous DRAM training algorithms, ultra-flexible pattern generation, error insertion/detection, and on-die scope capability via software. These features enhance performance, reliability and system testing.
LRDIMM is a new type of memory module being defined for the needs of next generation server applications, particularly Cloud Computing. Servers targeting the Cloud Computing model require highly scalable memory architectures to support the performance and elasticity needs of virtualized resources. LRDIMM technology delivers that scalability with a"pay as you go" approach to appropriately size a server's main memory pool as the user base evolves. Unlike RDIMMs, the performance of LRDIMMs does not significantly degrade as the number of DIMMs in a channel increases, maximizing the efficiency of a given set of CPU resources..”
“LRDIMM is a critical technology to enhance server performance in virtualized environments such as Cloud Computing," said Mario Montana, vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Computing Division at IDT."IDT is the industry leader in memory buffer technology dating back to FBDIMM, and that expertise and domain knowledge is applied to our MB3 products for DDR3. We have worked diligently with our customers, ecosystem partners and the JEDEC standards group to bring this new technology to fruition."
Unlike the DDR3 register used in RDIMM, which only buffers command, address and clock signals, the IDT MB301L manages all signals between the memory controller and SDRAM. By improving signal integrity both in the motherboard channel and on the LRDIMM, and effectively training the exchange of data to and from the DRAMs, the IDT MB301L allows higher densities of memory to be run at greater speeds and with fewer population restrictions than when using RDIMMs. The net result is the ability to run four or more times as much memory in a two-socket server at the highest speed grades supported.
Pricing and Availability
The IDT MB301L is sampling now in a MBG-588 package and is compatible with JEDEC LRDIMM modules designs. Contact your local sales or distribution representative for pricing. For more information, please visitwww.idt.com/go/MB3.
